Galderma Retacnyl Tretinoin Cream .05% for Acne Treatment

Do you still remember the timer when I shared with you the prescription drugs I got from my derma? Besides that, I also got a prescription for a topical solution and that is the Galderma Retacnyl Tretinoin Cream .05%. At first, I am not really aware of what is it so I made some research.

What is it?
Retacnyl Tretinoin is used to treat acne. It may decrease the number and severity of acne pimples and promote quick healing of pimples that do develop. Tretinoin belongs to a class of medications called retinoids. It works by affecting the growth of skin cells. Credits to: Webmd

How to use:
The tretinoin must be used on a clean face and thinly applied with clean fingertips.

Experience:
My dermatologist said that during the first few weeks of using Galderma Retacnyl Tretinoin Cream .05%, my acne will appear worse because of not just the capsules I take but also because of the cream that works on pimples forming inside the skin. It is said that it might take up to 8-12 weeks to notice the results of the medication.

Besides being given the warning, I was still in panic when all of the breakouts came after a week of using it. It is so severe and my skin was at it's worst. I can't even bear to post a picture. I risked to put on more of the cream which made it even worst than before. My skin micro-peeled, there was also more redness and pain. It can't be covered by makeup anymore too and I don't want to come to work looking like it. I stopped using the cream and waited for my skin to heal.

The cream does work in drying out acne fast especially the red big ones but because of that it also leaves dark marks. It made my skin really dry. I went back to the derma wherein I was prescribed another batch of capsules and was advised to continue the cream 'in moderation'.

How much?
P1,280 for a 30g big tube which can last for more than a month. This is a prescripted cream so you will need to consult a dermatologist if you want to buy one.

Overall~
I think this cream works somehow in drying out acne but my breakout still won't stop even after taking almost a year of taking anti-acne capsules. I don't want to risk myself anymore because both of the cream and capsules contain really potent ingredients. This still might be an option or something that can work for somebody else, but it's not really for me. Not to mention these are expensive.

I am sharing my experience for the people who might have been prescribed Retacnyl Tretinoin Cream and wants to know what to expect from it. If you have any questions just let me know in the comments.
