Review: Maybelline Micellar Water

Happy first week of 2017 gals. A bit of throwback, for today I will review something I bought from the last Lazada sale which is Maybelline Micellar Water. Yes I have been so in love with Loreal Micellar water for a little while now, so I want to know how the Maybelline one is different.

Maybelline Micellar Water
4-in1 product: Removes makeup, Cleanses, Hydrates and Soothes
No fragrance, alcohol free, fresh and oil free

Packaging
Bottle is simply a transparent plastic with simple screw cap. Its color is pink, which is again, guys and gals my favorite. I just felt like mentioning it haha. When turned upside down it doesn't leak, which is a good thing. It even have this safety foil to make sure that the product inside is fresh and new.

Experience
Like pure water it has no scent. It does stay true to its 4 in 1 promise.

Removes makeupWhat I really like with micellar waters is the fact that there is no need to tug the skin when removing makeup. The dirt is easily magnetified by the cotton ball like magic. Its is very different compared the old makeup removers I've used before.

Cleanses - Tired and straight for bed? If I use Micellar water there is no need for extra cleansing with water and facial wash.

Hydrates - Its not an oily type of makeup remover but it gives hydration to my skin. No tight feeling at all.

Soothes - My skin feels refreshed and so much better whenever I use this.

How much and where to buy?
P199 I bought mine at Lzada. But its also available in the Maybelline kiosks in the leading Watsons and beauty sections of the leading department stores nationwide. Only, if its not out of stock.

What I love

  • Affordable
  • Refreshes skin
  • Frees skin from makeup
  • Removes even my stubborn mascara
  • Multi purpose
  • Can double as toner
  • Can also be used as facial spray
  • No skin tugging to remove dirt
  • Does not dry out skin
  • No scent
  • no breakouts
  • Easy to bring bottle
  • Available in Watsons and online
  • Works as advertised

What I don't

  • Nothing I can mention

TIPS:
Refill an empty atomizer bottle and use this as facial spray!

Will I repurchase?
Maybe. But there are a lot of Micellar brands I still want to try~

Overall~
Maybelline Micellar Water works as advertised. Loyal Maybelline users this product won't disappoint! I love how this product works without the hefty price tag. Its gentle and doesn't break me out. It can even be a multi-purpose item, try it! :)

My friend says she is a single core worker so she can't multi-task. I guess so am I. But I am trying so hard to do a lot of things at once lately. Which includes blogging, hope you enjoyed my post, any comments just drop in the comments.

Review: Maxi-Peel Exfoliant #1

Hi sweeties! How are you?
Hope you are all safe and sound despite the last visit of typhoon Ruby in the Philippines. Let us all pray and I know, God will do the rest.

I know it has been months since I have been on hiatus, again it is because of my tight schedule. I don't have much time for any 'me time' anymore, maybe that is why my skin is being bumpy lately (talk about break outs). I needed to find something which is within my budget which lead me to get Maxi-Peel.

I cannot remember how many times I have heard horror stories of women who experienced burnt skin because of being exposed to the sun after using this product. But because I would be staying at home, I believe I am safe and I'm in the right timing to use Maxi-Peel. There have been countless debate if Maxi-Peel works or not, but there are skin reactions differ from person to person. But if you are brave like me then why not? Anyway off to my share of review, let's dig in!

MAXI-PEEL REVIEW

What is it?
Basically Maxi-Peel Exfoliant Solution (Anti Acne Depigmenting Agent) is an astringent which mainly contains Tretinoin and Hydroquinone. It is offered in three different strengths: #1 mild #2 moderate #3 severe. In choosing the right strength they say you should assess what intensity your acne problem is. But I highly suggest to just start with #1 which is mild. I mean hey, its better to be safe than sorry. #3 can easily burn skin if not used properly. Besides you can always adjust, if you think the effect is not enough. To sum it up it promises to:

  • Treat/prevent mild cases of pimples, blackheads and whiteheads.
  • Penetrate pores to reduce breakouts
  • Eliminate pimple causing bacteria
  • Remove dead skin cells
  • Whiten dark spots, blemishes and other discoloration such as freckles and age spots
Maxi-Peel also offers other products than the exfoliant solution:

Credits: Splash besides Maxi-Peel there other brands created by this company which includes:Skin White, Extract, Maxi-Peel, Hygienix, Kolours Shades Vitress Control, Barrio Fiesta

Packaging
Nothing is fancy here. The product is inside a green secured bottle, no leaks! The manufacturing and expiration date is clearly stated on the cap. Liquid inside is brown and yeah it smells chemical-ish which is normal for astringents.

Experience

If you have read this blog of mine you'll know that I am not afraid of trying out new products. I am ready for peeling and such. Reminder: Never start using Maxi-Peel without sunblock and moisturizer!

HOW TO USE:
Evening routine

  1. Wash face with hydrating/gentle facial wash and wait for at 10-15 minutes for face to dry. I use Celeteque but there is also other gentle brands that are worth trying.
  2. Apply Maxi-Peel exfoliant with a cotton, 2-3 drops is enough and apply it with upward motion. Avoid the eye/lips area and side of the nose.
  3. Apply moisturizer afterwards. I use Physiogel.
Morning routine
  1. Wash face with hydrating/gentle facial wash.
  2. Apply moisturizer then sunblock. Reapplication of sunblock can be done every 4 hours to make sure skin is protected from UV rays.
My skin felt a bit tight after application but not to the point that its itchy due to over dryness. During mornings I only use moisturizer + sunblock + concealer + light dust of powder. I alternate days of usage, to avoid too much redness and peeling in just one go. After a week, my face turned dark and it was micro peeling. During the peeling stage skin is sensitive to sunlight so sunblock is a must. I did not experienced too much purging, but few pimples appeared (but it was also because I was about to have my period). Continuous usage of the product helped in drying them out.

Gradually my skin became clear from bumps and pimples, it is also even toned. I also noticed that my pores are not as prominent as before. It is recommended to stop using Maxi-peel after 1 or 2 months to avoid over peeling and to give way for the rest period of the skin.

No more visible pimples, only dark scars are left. Cannot give a before photo but pores are not as prominent as the photo in real life.

How much and where to buy?
I bought mine from Mercury Drug. I don't have much time to drop by in Watsons. :(
60ml costs P60+ (I cannot remember, will check)

What I love
Affordable and accessible product
Hello even toned skin
No more bumpy skin
Effective way to get better skin with the right usage
It diminished my big pores, acne scar, dark patches and bumps due to allergy
I get less blackheads and whiteheads now

What I don't
Peeling and purging stage

TIPS

  • Avoid direct sun exposure and always wear sunblock on face and neck.
  • Perform skin patch test to see if product suits you.
  • Avoid usage of other whitening products which might not work with the solution
  • Don't apply on wounded/broken skin.
  • If the formula is too much for you r skin then you can use every other day.
  • Use Maxi-peel concealer to hide the peeling.
  • Stop usage if you felt too much sting when washing your face
  • Use hat, umbrella to protect skin on top of using sunblock.
  • Redness is normal, itchiness is not especially if you made sure you apply moisturizer.
  • Rashes or swelling is a no-no. If you notice this, stop usage.
  • Any whitening/exfoliating product is not recommended for lactating or breastfeeding women
Will I repurchase?
Yes! Actually I just did! Maxi-Peel Exfoliant #2! This one peels skin faster, than #1. It has the same 2g Hydroquinone but this contains 25mg tretinoin unlike #1 which only contains 10mg.

Overall~
Maxi-peel is an effective way to get flawless skin in no time. I am still far from perfect and I still get acne every now and then but hey with continuous usage, who knows? I get nothing but compliments from my friends whom I haven't seen for a long time. They were asking me what product I use not because my skin is so much better than before. Oh well less is always more. :) Who can imagine that beauty in a bottle can be affordable. Thank you Maxi-Peel!

Maxi-peel is being promoted now by actress/model Ms. Marian Rivera and they tag this promotion as #BagongGandaBagongPagAsa Journey to renewal.
