Review: Silkygirl Shimmer Duo Blusher

silkygirl shimmer duo blusher review

Hello gals! Who else here joined the last Shopee and Lazada sale? With the holidays approaching, those sales are surely banking a lot of moolah, I can't help but do a checkout for my wish list there. In addition to that I got my own planner for next year, I bought a unicorn planner from my sister which is also featured in today's product photos for Silkygirl Shimmer Duo Blusher! Woohoo, it's been a while since I reviewed a blush so this is something new. More photos after the jump!

What is it?
Silkygirl says:
Blusher with ultra-fine texture and silky smooth formula, in pairs of shimmer and non-shimmer for highlight and natural glows. Non-comedogenic, fragrance-free. Formulated for Asian Skin.

silkygirl shimmer duo blusher

Packaging
The packaging is cute and the top is transparent so I can easily find the right shade I need. It is compact and comes with a soft brush on-the-go, the only thing missing is the mirror.

I like how the product is well sealed upon purchase and the ingredient list as well as the manufacturing date is clearly specified at the back of the case.

Experience
Silkygirl Shimmer Duo Blusher comes in pair of shimmer and matte shades. It gives a natural glow when applied together. It comes in 4 shades. From left to right: Cheeky Peach - Sunset Glow - Petal Pink - Sunset Glow.

A closer look to each shade:

 01- Cheeky Peach
The left light pink's shimmers is very subtle and can be used together with the light orange shade for a hint of glow.

 02- Blushing Pink
Both of the colors in the pan has light shimmers. Both of them are very light pink and best used as a highlighter.

 03- Rose Petal
The blusher with the best color pay-off among the four. The combination of very light pink and dusty rose on the right is good. This is my favorite from the bunch and both of them have very light shimmers.

 04- Sunny Glow
This is a summer light orangey shade blush and looks great when applied with the light shimmer.

Now time for swatches! The texture is nice, smooth and blends nicely although it's a bit chalky. The pigmentation is too light for a blush in my opinion but it can be good if you want some glow without looking too made up. I needed to swipe it for 4-5 times for the color to show but it still doesn't appear vibrant on photos.

How much and where to buy?
P329 available in Silkygirl kiosks nationwide, you may also check out their website.

What I love
  • Texture is smooth
  • Blends nicely
  • Gives a subtle glow
  • Cute case with clear cover
  • Buildable colors
  • Can be used as a highlighter
  • Didn't break me out
  • Formulated for asian skin
  • Comes with a brush
  • Case is sealed upon purchase

What I don't
  • A bit chalky
  • Poor pigmentation
  • Needs constant touch ups
  • No mirror with the case

Will I repurchase?
As a blush no, but for a subtle highlighter maybe yes but I got all of them now. I'm not sure when will I finish all of my blushes.

Overall~
I only recommend Silkygirl Shimmer Duo Blusher for make-up starters who doesn't like to look "too done" and just needs a subtle glow.

Review: Nichido Cheek Mousse in Pink Champagne

Nichido Cheek Mousse Review

Phew! Tough week. I was really looking forward to this weekend. Poor me because my draft of today's review was deleted. I had to rewrite everything, like -_-'') I hate you Google Autosave. ><

I can't do anything about it, so I'll just try to be more careful next time. Okay so let's proceed to today's review! :)
Dollish cheeks anyone? Yay me! Me! *raises hands* I am a sucker for pink. Well look at my blog! And any pink stuff can catch my eyes. Hihi~ So I found out that Nichido Cheek Mousse in Pink Champagne was on sale from P168 per piece to P84! That was like half the price! Since I can't find the Ever Bilena mousse blushes (I was dying to try them!) anymore I bought Nichido instead.

What it is?
A cream blush with a mousse consistency. Perfect partner for cream foundies and even over powder makeup! At first I can't find the ingredient list until I lift the sticker underneath the tub. Lol. Lookie no paraben. ^_^

Packaging
Nichido Cheek Mousse is in a screw type glass tub container. Not the preferred type of packaging for a beauty product so always make sure to wash your hands before applying this product. It is plastic but durable and won't break! It is not cheap looking but after lugging it around with me I found that the design on top of the cap has faded. I really do not mind much though, I still find the pink cap cute.

swatch!
Experience
It is my first time to try a cheek mousse type of blush! Boy I was so excited! I was looking for some kind of blush in this exact bright baby pink shade and I found it with Pink Champagne! It really has no scent or whatsoever but you might notice a really faint waxy smell, probably the ingredient used to make the mousse consistency. You won't notice much at first but there are subtle glitters in the product. I was glad that it did not made me oily looking or gave a greasy feeling.

A little goes a long way. I only needed a small amount of the product to create natural looking blushing cheeks. Application is so easy, no need for brushes or sponges. I do it with my fingers, mostly on top of my favorite bb cream. Blending is never a hassle and the finish is never over the top and natural looking. The color is buildable but there is nothing what we call over the top. It is always just the right amount of pink with this Cheek mousse! I dunno how they do it. Must be with the oxidation? Yes this baby does oxidize but just to adjust with your skin tone. The only problem I see is the staying power. I find that I had to reapply after 3 hours max. I am have quite oily cheeks being a combination type.

How much and where to buy?
7 grams for only P84! (it was on sale at Watsons!)

What I love:
  • It is the perfect dolly bubbly pink I was looking for which screams girly! <3
  • Natural finish (not shiny nor oily even if its mousse!)
  • Color is buildable
  • I never go over the top even I put a lot! /haamazing/
  • Perfect partner for bb creams and cream type foundies
  • Rich consistency
  • Blends like a dream (no skin tugging required!)
  • Does not break me out
  • No allergic reaction or whatsoever
  • Economic- a little goes a long way
  • Affordable!
What I don't
  • Staying power so-so
  • Might oxidize after a while
  • Does not last long and needs reapplication.
TIPS!
Always bring a sanitizer/alcohol and tissue if you want to use this throughout the day.

Will I repurchase?
If it is still available, why not? I am so in love with the color.  A snapshot of me while wearing the blush on my cheeks. <3

Overall~
Happiness comes in all size and budget! Like Nichido Cheek Mousse in Pink Champagne. Who can imagine that the perfect dollish pink blush can be this affordable?

Please feel free to share with me your favorite brand of blush below! :)

JUST ME~ I found this cute pink dress in Vmall. Papa and my lil chuchu told me that I look like a kid in it but I just had to try it! I kinda look like fat here eh? Must be the design in the front? Keke. Or am I really getting fat? Still love the color! Thinking twice on buying it as a graduation dress, but its pretty!

Review: ELF Studio Line Pink Passion Blush

Lately I have been carried away with too much rosy cheeks I have seen in the no make-up look tutorials in youtube. You know how fascinated I am with this as its the usual look used in korean dramas and by my favorite kpop idols!

Basically I was looking for a baby pink blush or anything similar, I looked for one and I found out that MAC well-dressed and MAC pink swoon are perfect candidates!

Sadly, being a cheap skate and bargain hunter that I am, I knew right off the bat that I can't afford to spend too much money for a blush.

Here comes the blush who saves the day...

ELF studio blush in Pink Passion!

"e.l.f. Studio Blush The soft sheer texture blends into the skin for a silky finish. Designed to be worn alone or layered for more depth. Highlight your complexion with a subtle healthy glow!" -ELF
My take on ELF Pink Passion

I will describe the color the best that I can, its a bright bubble gum pink blush on the pan but when swatch it'll turn into a healthy baby pink (provided that you have a light hand on doing it). Its a shade of pink with blue undertone. The blush is matte (totally different from the rest of the shades which all have shimmers!)

There are various description about this blush but for me Pink Passion is simply the perfect pink needed to look like Snow White. Hehe :) It reminds me of the effect of my Sophie Martin Magic Cream Blush, the only difference is this is in powder form.

The Look:

I appreciate that it has a mirror, even though its small, you'll never know when you will need it. Emergency touch ups maybe? Whole pan is full of blush, yes no trashy brush this time (can you relate? I don't think small brushes can be use for applying blush anyway).

       PROS

  • The perfect pink (light hand for pale pink cheeks!)
  • Pigmented but not dramatic
  • Its matte! -no shimmers allowed for girls like me with large pores and combination skin
  • Good amount of product 4.75g or 168 oz

             CONS

  • Quite chalky --for the price I can't complain!
  • Doesn't last long --But this can be easily solved by adding a base for the blush
  • Shade not locally available --I bought mine in ebay for Php225, this is $3 in their official site.
  • ELF label on my blush packaging is almost gone. --Its a con but not really ELF's fault because I admit that I am pretty careless myself!

I can't recommend this blush enough, it serves its purpose after all. I prefer to use this with my Ellana mini buki brush because I love concentrating the color on my cheeks just like what a doll looks like. If I feel like I have over done the color I use my ELF stippling brush (review coming up soon!) Right now I don't mind having ELF Pink Passion instead of Mac Pink Swoon.

Will I repurchase?

Most definitely! This blush is totally worth the money.

How about you sisses? Do you like ELF too? What is your current favorite blush?

Review: Sophie Martin Magic Pink Cream

Creams and tints are not so common cosmetic before (at least for me!). I still remember seeing girls with tons of powder blush on their cheeks in which is enough for you to say "pahingi naman ng blush mo". LOL. Kidding.

Anyway my post today is about how I found the perfect natural pink flush with Sophie Magic cream.

"Magic Pink is formulated using plant extract. It turns skin into look rosy pink within  minute after application."

I stumbled about this pink cream blush before in sulit and immediately bought one. I am surprised with the good quality of the blush and I was so sure that I'll repurchase. It didn't end there though because of the pink cream I became a member! HOHO. But that doesn't mean I will be bias in doing reviews though. I am blogging to share my honest opinion.

Now lets go to the pros and cons~

PROS

  • It smells like baby powder. LOVE!
  • The flush is natural.
  • The white cream indeed transforms into pink almost right after application.
  • Color is buildable.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • One tube can last 3 months with daily use.
  • Its truly affordable! Regular price is Php70 before but maybe due to high demand they increased the price into Php85. Still a far cry from the price of high-end brands out there.
  • Blush stays all day! Can withstand the hot humid weather and oily skin!
  • Cute pocket friendly packaging.

CONS

  • Sadly this has parabens.
  • Only available in sophie martin dealers(LIKE ME!) or other online shops.

I am actually on my 2nd tube right now. Its one of my HG cream blushes, perfect as is or as a base for your other powder blushes! Its a must-try!

Have you tried this cream blush before? Do you like it?
