Review: Silky Girl Matte Junkie Lip Cream

I personally don't go for matte lipsticks before because I like lip tints better. The Korean beauty trend of naturally tinted lips have gotten into me, big time. However when more brands released their own matte lip lines I got curious. What is so good with matte lipsticks that they're all into it? All of my  answers were answered when Silky Girl Matte Junkie Lip Cream arrived on our doorsteps.

What is it?

Silky Girl Matte Junkie Lip Cream
This kissproof and transfer resistant lipcolor applies like a liquid lipstick that dries to a matte finish. It stays on your lips through day and night activities requiring minimal touch-ups.

Lightweight
Fragrance-free
Carmine-free
Paraben-free and
Not tested on animals

Packaging
Tadaaa~ Like any other liquid lipstick, Silky Girl Matte Junkie Lip Cream is in a clear plastic tube with sponge tip doe foot applicator. Its not flimsy and takes the right amount of product for a tinted natural lips look but if you're going for the full lips you will need to apply more.

Shades 1, 2 and 3 is actually a bit similar when you look at it so I need to double check the bottom part where they have the shade number and shade printed. The ingredient list is on the plastic cover of the lip cream.

Experience
Silky Girl Matte Junkie Lip Cream is very smooth to apply. In terms of texture think of velvet matte and its very comfortable to wear. When applied heavily it stays the whole day. The darker the shade you use, the more long lasting it is. Its highly pigmented because it can cover my lips with just one swipe. The color is opaque but I don't recommend layering it much because it will crack and it will already feel heavy. I ate and drink and the color is still there with very minimal fading. This one is kissproof and transfer resistant and indeed very matte! Its fragrance free, light weight and non-sticky. If my lips is not properly moisturized sometimes the lip cream accentuate lip lines.

Matte looks bring out the corporate girl in me. Amazingly it lasts 6 hours on me. Its very creamy but dries into matte with the sufficient time for you to blend it in and make the application even.

01 Retro
Orangey nude shade, I'd like it more if its more brown but I like how fresh it makes me look. It doesn't make me look warm too even though it has an orange undertone.

02 Glamour
Creamy rose pink. A pink undertone nude shade which looks rosey pink in the tube but peachy pink when applied.

03 Rebel
Barbie pink shade that has a lot of purple undertone. It lasts long and its very nice especially when dabbed on the lips.

04 Vintage
Its like an old deep rose shade with a lot of brown.

05 Vixen
A red shade which leans more on red orange. I like how bright it looks on my lips and in the tube.

At first its shiny when applied but its pure matte when left after a minute or two. I like using my fingers to dab it on. I like it natural looking, but sometimes it just depends on my mood.

And then, here’s how it looks when I wear it. Among 5 shades my favorite would be Vixen.

There is supposedly 5 photos for each shade, sadly I accidentally deleted the other two. :(
(I will try to update this post with the missing shades when I can.)

How much and where to buy?

What I love
  • Pigmented
  • The applicator is not flimsy (I like using fingers for the 'tinted' look though)
  • Affordable
  • Long-lasting
  • Doesn't budge when set
  • Doesn't make lips dry nor peel
  • Wearable colors
  • Comfortable and light
  • Non-sticky
  • If not layered too much, it doesn’t crack
What I don't
  • May accentuate lip lines
Will I repurchase?
I really like Vixen and Rebel. If you need a nude shade you may choose one from Glamour, Retro and Vintage. They have very minimal color difference in actual.

Overall~
With so many brands joining the bandwagon of matte lipsticks I can say Silky Girl did a pretty good job with their Matte Junkie Lip Creams. It doesn't dry my lips despite being matte and all shades look flattering on me. The color looks opaque even without layering. Its smooth and creamy and definitely unscented. It may settle on the lip line but it still depends on how you apply it.

Removing it is also not an issue, just soap and water and you're good. You bet this is a good choice, if you're in for a matte long lasting color then try Silky Girl Matte Junkie Lip Cream.
