Maxi-Peel Rest Period Regimen

Hey there! I have been seeing curiosity strikes on my Maxi-Peel Exfoliant review, I am not paid nor given free products to advertise anything, but this product is one of the main stays in my beauty routine for about a few months already. Its something I come back for every now and then, its the only product which calms my sudden breakouts.

I know we've all heard our share of horror stories of Maxi-Peel users who experienced disaster.
It works wonders when used correctly.

Quoted from Maxi-Peels Fb page~
Rest period Regimen:
Morning: Maxi-Peel Facial Wash, Maxi-Peel Sunblock Cream
Evening: Maxi-Peel Facial Wash, Maxi-Peel Facial Cleanser, Maxi-Peel Moisturizing Cream

After 1 month of rest period, you may use exfoliant solution again for a maximum of 2 months then 1 month rest. The cycle goes on and treatment will end once you've achieved the smooth skin that you desire.
After which, you may opt to stop using Maxi-Peel Exfoliant Solution but keep on using the maintenance products like Maxi-Peel Facial Wash or Maxi-Peel Exfoliant Scrub, Maxi-Peel Concealing Cream, Maxi-Peel Sunblock Cream, Maxi-Peel Facial Cleanser and Maxi-Peel Moisturizing Cream.

SO~ as a recap, for Maxi-Peel Rest Period Regimen they recommend:
Maxi-Peel Facial Wash
Maxi-Peel Sunblock Cream
Maxi-Peel Facial Cleanser
Maxi-Peel Moisturizing Cream

---
I bought Maxi-Peel Facial Wash in sachets, it was currently on sale. I was thrilled on the facial cleanser that I bought the large bottle in pore minimizing pink variant. Yeesss something for the pores! During the day I use Maxi-Peel Facial Wash, cleanser and my own sunblock (its from some other brand). I did it for around 3 days but I suddenly broke out. I slowly incorporated Maxi-Peel again in my routine but I realized that the reason for my acne breakout was the Maxi-Peel Facial Cleanser.

I really thought my skin would be okay with it simply because it was from Maxi-Peel. I had acne on my chin and cheeks after using it. I stopped and reused it again, and surprise surprise, more pimples! No improvement on pores as well, I felt bad for buying a big bottle... Lesson learned try the smaller size before you buy a big version of any beauty product.

The facial wash on the other hand didn't broke me out. As an alternative to the original regimen I used my Silkyskin makeup remover and Maxi-Peel facial wash instead. Sometimes I also use honey as a face mask and moisturizer (talking about going natural!) I used less products to make sure my skin won't be irritated and that means less makeup too.

What works on me may not work on you and vice versa. Right now I will soon be using Maxi-Peel again, hopefully I won't have too much purging. Do you also use or have you tried Maxi-Peel products? What is your current skincare regimen? I would love to read your thoughts in the comments!

Review: Silkygirl Purefresh All in One Gel Makeup Remover

Wednesday is a Holiday and yesterday was Seventeen's release of newest music video. Noice!~ Whose voice was that? So manly~ I am being so random again, forgive me sisses.

It was raining so hard outside yesterday and we were so unlucky everyone went home wet. We even needed to walk on flood water. Its not even funny. But lol~ Anyway a bit of a commercial break (drum roll) a friend recently opened her own instagram shop, if you can check her out, she will be selling authentic US brand makeups for a fraction of the price. I love this sweet gal: ShopAlyssa

I want to open an online shop soon as well which weirdly doesn't involve makeup, hope you'll look forward to that. Back to my story so it was a tiring way on the way home that I want to sleep right after I take off my shoes, HOLD ON! we still need to remove our makeup. Sleeping with makeup and dirt on will surely give you breakout! Although there is no easy way to do it very fast I have Silkygirl Purefresh All in One Gel Makeup Remover. This is my new makeup remover I've bought last month and I've been using it daily ever since.

What is it?
Silkygirl Purefresh All in One Gel Makeup Remover is for the face, eyes and lips. Its water based and 100% soap free. Contains Vitamin B5 and Aloe Vera Extract for All skin types.

Benefits:
Lightweight, oil free gel formula gentle on the skin yet effectively removes all traces of makeup.
Leaves skin feeling cool, fresh and clean.
Aloe vera makes skin feel softer
Vitamin B5 and Hydrated Soy Protein nourishes skin
pH 5.5 level restores skin balance
Suitable for all skin types

DIRECTIONS:
For eyes: Moisten a cotton pad with gel.
Press gently on eyelids & lashes & wipe downwards direction until all traces of eye makeup are removed.
For face and lips: Apply directly on skin. Spread and massage gently. Rinse with water.

Packaging
It has a sturdy pink sexy packaging which I can't get enough with. The easy to open cap is also awesome and I bet this will be a good travel item if they have a smaller size? (can also be transferred to smaller bottles though).

Experience
The very nice scent is notable (I really love it). Mom says it smells so nice and I agree. It calms my senses while I massage the gel product on my face. I figure out that its best to follow instruction, however I noticed that there were face makeup left if I don't use cotton pads. It also don't do anything to my eyeliners and poor old mascara. I've decided to just use cotton pads and thus it worked. It does its job and its very gentle on my eyes. My first makeup remover is oil based and it hurts my eye.

I wash my face with Safeguard Derma Sense afterwards and tap my face dry. It look clean and feels clean. Silkygirl Purefresh All in One Gel Makeup Remover did not break me out as well, a thumbs up for that.

How much and where to buy?
P189 for a 150ml tube. Silkygirl have kiosks in Landmark (not sure with SM department stores)

What I love
  • Doesn't sting my eyes
  • Removes all trace of face foundation
  • Gel consistency make it easy to massage on face with hands
  • The scent is very very nice <3
  • Can be used for eyes, face and lips
  • Affordable
  • Contains no soap! (so its really gentle)
  • Face looks clean (after washing of course)
What I don't
  • Can't use without cotton pads
  • Had a hard time removing eye makeup (mascara, eye liners)
TIPS
-Use cotton pads when removing face makeup
-Concentrate on soaking eye makeup because it needs to melt before it can be removed
-Can be transferred to smaller bottles for travel

Will I repurchase?
Yes yes! this is a worth the purchase makeup remover, but I also want to try Micellar Water next time.

Overall~
It is an affordable makeup remover that does its job. I love that it doesn't sting my eyes and lives up to its name of being gentle and all in one. Silkygirl Purefresh All in One Gel Makeup Remover is a steal for the price.

Review: Ultimate Fix Compact Foundation in Ivory

I bought this because I had a good experience with Cover Girl Cream Foundation. In search for an affordable version I bought Ultimate Fix Compact Foundation. The lightest shade is ivory and I chose it because I am acidic and foundation oxidizes on me if its dark.

This will mostly be text, as this is a draft way back. This is ready for sharing, but not published. The pictures meant for this post was stolen along with my old mobile phone last year.

Ultimate Fix Compact Foundation in Ivory Review

What is it?
Cream foundation that is supposed to act as a 3-in 1 product. It's foundation, concealer and powder in one.
Lightweight solid to liquid formulation which provides the coverage of a liquid foundation with a powder finish. Creates the perfect base in one easy application. SPF15.
It contains oxybenzone
[An active chemical sunscreen ingredient]
Ultimate Fix Compact Foundation in Ivory
How to use it:
1. After selecting your shade, prepare skin by thoroughly cleansing and follow with a moisturizer to prep the skin
2. Using the sponge applicator sweep the product over your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin
3. Blend together with a clean foundation brush ensuring to blend lightly into the hairline and neck for a natural finish
4. Build coverage as desired

Ingredients:
Talc, Mica, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Hytdrogemated Polycyclopentadiene, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, CI77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77007, CI 77891

Packaging
Round plastic see through packaging wherein you can see the foundation inside. It also comes with a mirror and sponge. I actually broke my compact when it fell off once from my bag, it should be handled with care.

Experience
Experience british invasion by Collection!
This product from UK and it has been with me for a while. I apply this using the provided sponge. The finish is matte but dewy, its a little sticky so I need to set it with loose powder. It feels heavy given that its cream foundation so I didn't dare to use additional products underneath (no sunblock err~).

Ultimate Fix Compact is indeed a multi-purpose product. I must say the coverage is awesome, its concealer and foundation in one and with one layer my dark spots are gone. It borders medium to heavy coverage, it depends on how you apply it. It doesn't highlight my pores but it doesn't cover it either. After commute though it surely made me oily. Yes there is a very thin line between dewiness and oiliness.

Inside the office and despite picking the light shade it still oxidized on me! :(
My workmate literally asked if I burned my face because it is very obvious that my face looks darker than it should. Oh my~

[Oxidation is apparently common with mineral make-up and other types of foundation. Oxidization occurs when the minerals and fats in the foundation react with pigments in the skin causing the skin and foundation to look darker, yellow or orange as the day progresses. Credits]

How much and where to buy?
Its P250 for the 10 grams compact. I got mine from Landmark Trinoma.

What I love
  • Medium to heavy coverage which means no need for concealer
  • Doubles up as sunscreen
  • Dewy matter finish
  • Affordable
What I don't
  • Oxidized on me despite being in an air conditioned environment
  • Sticky
  • Made me oily
  • Feels heavy on the face
TIPS

Will I repurchase?
No, its long since I bought a compact from them and I wonder if they still sell them...

Overall~
As long as I love cream foundations I won't give up on them. Right now it was a let down that Ultimate Fix Compact Foundation didn't work on me, I really don't like foundations that oxidizes on me. I might just repurchase Covergirl instead.

Review: ETUDE HOUSE Water color Blusher in No. 3 Baby Apricot

Is this watercolor? Yes or no? Yay. This fancy watercolor tube is actually a blusher! Its from Etude House, I got it from Etude House Buy 1 Take 1 Sale wherein I also bought bb cream. The first time I saw this I just know I've got to have it.

ETUDE HOUSE Water color Blusher in No. 3 Baby Apricot Review

What is it?
It has 3 shades pink, lilac and peach

Packaging
Its in a watercolor looking tube which is cute and fancy. It dispenses the right amount of product so there is no product wastage.

Experience
The texture of Etude House Water Color Blusher is exactly like watercolor! Its fascinating and I really like it. Its very easy to blend blend blend~ The color is very peachy and its very nice when you would like to look fresh and young. A warm color to brighten up a dull look. Its better on top of my makeup and I like that it looks dewy looking.

This blush doesn't accentuate pores and gives just the right amount of color to look naturally blushing. I use my fingers to apply in on my cheeks but you can also try stippling brush if you want to. Might give a different effect, I have a stippling brush but I rarely use it, I might not just be a brush person.

I've got combination skin and it only lasts about 2 hours on me, so whenever I use this I lug it around in my bag. This is one of my favorite blushes. Peach has a special place in my heart.

How much and where to buy?
I got it in Etude House Buy 1 take 1 sale, its normal price is P348 per tube. You can snag this at local Etude House stores.

What I love

  • The cute packaging!
  • Its sealed which means product freshness
  • Applies like silk
  • A little goes a long way
  • Very natural color
  • Lightweight
  • Very easy to apply
  • Pigmentation is build-able
  • Price is affordable
What I don't
  • Doesn't last long for oily skin about 2 hours at its best
  • Not sweat proof
  • Needs constant blush retouch

TIPS
-This is best applied on top of your face makeup
-Bring it with you because it needs re-application
-Best applied with fingers, the key is to blend blend blend!

Will I repurchase?
Yes I want to try their Lilac and pink colors.

Overall~
ETUDE HOUSE Water color Blusher in No. 3 Baby Apricot is a good blush for makeup starters or students on a budget. This is easy to apply and gives very natural color. Apricot fits any skin tone. I recommend this to anyone who want to try lightweight cream blushes.
