Review: Silky Girl Magic BB All-In-One Powder Foundation

Hello November! I had the writer's block lately its like I want to write but I don't have creativity to do it. I know other bloggers feel the same every now and then, especially when there are a lot of things happening at work than in real life! Lately I feel like I don't have the work-life balance anymore. Well maybe its just me adjusting with my new environment, I am yet to find out. Anyway gals so I am drifting away from our review for the day, I know I owe you a lot of beauty reviews already, so sorry! Not very long ago, Silky Girl is very kind to send me a package which includes Silky Girl Magic BB All-In-One Powder Foundation in all four shades.

What is it?

Silky Girl Magic BB All-In-One Powder Foundation
This new and improved formula of Magic BB All-In-One Powder Foundation comes with these 4 natural ingredients; Wild Mango Butter, Calendula Flower Extract, Sakura and Mulberry Leaf Extract to keep skin looking flawless all day. Also formulated with Powder La Vie and Silica to absorb excessive sebum for a shine-free, matte finish that lasts all day. Available in these 4 shades.

SPF 35/PA+++
6 Nos Formula: No Oil, No Shine, No Fragrance, No Paraben, No touch-ups
Formulated for Asian skin

Packaging
I am in love with their baby pink plastic compact powder. It easily closes and with a click, it locks for safety. I really like how nice and girly it is, its something I can proudly use because its definitely my color!

Experience
Silky Girl Magic BB All-In-One Powder is actually the 2nd powder foundation I've tried from Silky Girl. The first one is __. This powder is unscented and doesn't have shimmers. Its not powdery and there is minimal fall outs even when I've used brush for the application, I prefer the sponge it comes with though. Its very useable, unflimsy and doesn't smell! Its also very smooth to apply and it doesn't accentuate pores at all, it gives light to medium coverage. It also brightens up my skin tone and it gives an effortless natural flawless look. The end result is matte but not flat and can keep the oil at bay for 2-3 hours. I've used this as a finishing powder as well where I've used it on top of my bb cream because its very light on the face. I still use concealer if I have dark marks I want to cover.

How much and where to buy?
available at Silky Girl kiosks at the leading department stores and beauty supplies shops such as W

What I love
  • Matte but radiant finish
  • Long lasting
  • Doesn't accentuate pores
  • Light to medium coverage
  • No shimmers
  • Matte but not flat
  • Very smooth to apply
  • Unscented
  • Not powdery with minimum fall outs
  • Sponge is not flimsy!
  • Perfect for natural flawless look
  • Can be a finishing powder
  • Light on the face

Review: Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Liquid Foundation

Good day pretty! An inspirational quote for today, mistakes are proof that you are trying! Yes and no matter how hard you day or week has been at the end of the day just think that life goes on.

Maybelline currently has this 25% sale for their Dream series foundation on until Sep 30, 2016. That is why I think I should review my former favorite Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Liquid Foundation. I already reviewed MaybellineDream Velvet Foundation in case you haven't read it yet. So here we go~

What is it?
DREAM SATIN SKIN LIQUID FOUNDATION
Air-whipped liquid foundation for satin-smooth, poreless skin
With its lightweight formula that looks and feels just like your skin, the Dream Satin Skin Liquid Foundation gives your skin an airbrush effect so it looks effortlessly satin-smooth and poreless.

Packaging
Its in a sturdy glass bottle with a very cute pump and a plastic cap. Its a bit heavy to lug around in my small kit.

Experience
I am honestly more of a BB cream person rather than liquid foundation. Oh well, I like BB creams because its an all in one product plus it even offers high SPF. I had this foundation for a while now in B2 (I'm shade NC 25 btw) but I haven't had the chance to use it daily because I prefer my BB cream. Uh-oh not until I read an article that instructs to spray facial mist and use liquid foundation right after for a pore-less and long-lasting finish.

Guess what? After trying it out, I am in love. Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Liquid Foundation makes my pores less obvious and it melts into a dewy finish. I also applied powder foundation and it sets nicely. Its not oily, didn't cake and didn't broke me out. The coverage is buildable from medium to heavy. For redness though you may still need to apply concealer. I prefer applying it using my fingers but I might try buying a sponge soon, I found one in Miniso, hohoho~ I don't bring this with me because its heavy and it might break if I always have it. I am a magnet for falling objects.

Just like any other liquid foundations, Maybelline Dream Satin adheres to the skin longer and better compared to powder foundations so make sure to use makeup remover to get rid of the product completely.

How much and where to buy?
On sale at P374 per 30ml bottle. I got it at the regular price of 499 though. Huehue~

What I love

  • Wallet friendly
  • Buildable medium to heavy coverage
  • Doesn't cake
  • Melts into dewy finish
  • Long lasting
  • Didn't broke me out
  • Blurs pores
  • No scent
  • Sun protection, its SPF 24
What I don't
  • I'm not a fan of glass packaging

TIPS
Try using powder on top for a flawless finish

Will I repurchase?
Yes I want to but they release Dream Velvet, and I like it better

Overall~
I recommend Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Liquid Foundation to girls with dry skin because it can moisturize your skin while still providing coverage. For oily to combo skin you may want to try the Dream Velvet variant because its very lightweight and provides awesome coverage as well.

Review: Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation

Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation is the newest product of Maybelline along with their Fashion Brow Duo shaper and Lip Flush Bitten Lip by Color Sensational. I am looking forward into buying them all but when I got by the store only the foundation is available. Oh well, its okay. I often use Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation lately so I am almost out of it. I really needed to get a new face buddy so I bought Maybelline's new foundation - Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation.

What is it?
Maybelline says:
Our first gel whipped foundation.
Fresh new and flawless... Dream Velvet whips a fresh gel into a velvet-soft texture. Complexion is perfected and smooth with a soft-matte finish, just like velvet. Skin feels fresh with lasting hydration.

seal of freshness!
Thick consistency!

Packaging
Its in a plastic hulog proof packaging! Yes yes I was sold with the packaging.

Experience
The predecessor of the Dream Velvet Foundation range. Now Maybelline's newest foundation comes in a handy dandy tube for easy lugging in our kikay kits! I tried it on Maybelline counter and I am in love. It spreads like a dream (thus the name) and feels like silk on my skin. I apply it using my fingers just like how I apply my bb creams. I only use about 2 pea size amount and its enough to cover my face. This will last for quite a while even with everyday usage.
it might look yellow under flash but in broad daylight its different
Because the foundation is gel, its perfect both for dry and oily to combination skin. It is moist enough for dry skin and won't trigger oiliness for oily to combi skin.

~Goodbye to oily skin, hello dewiness! I am impressed. In regards on its staying power, it stays from morning til night. Just don't wipe your face too much because its not transfer proof. My handkerchief have foundation marks already. You can always reapply though.

Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation's coverage ranges from light to medium. It doesn't layer up to hide up imperfections like dark spots but is enough to lightly cover redness on my skin. For dark spots just use your trusty concealer. This foundation doesn't accentuate pores but it doesn't hide it either. I braised myself for some super oily madness as I've gone out without anything but this on top of my sunscreen and bit of moisturizer. Behold~ It was a tough hot ride from our house to Makati but I all I got was healthy dewy skin. Yes yes yes.

It leaves a velvety glowing finish that can pass up as our second skin.

The only thing I didn't like was the shade I got which is a bit off. My mistake. I accidentally asked for the lightest shade forgetting completely that I need to check if the shade is pink or yellow undertone. However forget that because I am completely buying more of this. Next time in my right shade of course, girls with yellow undertone do not forget to buy shade Sandy Beige.

As I've checked they have more shades available which were not released in the Philippines. I guess they only hand picked a few that will suit Pinays. Their lightest shade is still a bit dark on me though.

How much and where to buy?
P374.25 in 25% discount from P499! -30ml tube

What I love
  • Its gel and its light on the skin
  • A little goes a long way
  • Matte but not flat - velvety matte finish
  • Turns dewy instead of oily
  • Not messy to apply
  • Coverage is light to medium
  • Spreads easily with no tugging
  • No scent
  • Hides redness well
  • Doesn't accentuate pores
  • Decently brightens under eye
  • Travel friendly tube
  • No whitecast
  • Affordable
What I don't
  • Transfers on hankies
  • Limited color selection
  • No sunscreen content
TIPS
Yellow based shades is perfect for Asian skin, pick Sandy Beige
Its light enough to be a makeup base, feel free to top it off with your fave compact or loose powder.

Will I repurchase?
Yes! In my right shade.

Overall~
Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation is a dream come true! Pun not intended. Its light on the skin and doesn't melt even in the humid weather. Its affordable yet even on sale, this is my new favorite. I recommend this to students and working girls who wants a foundation that works and easy on the pocket.

Review: Ultimate Fix Compact Foundation in Ivory

I bought this because I had a good experience with Cover Girl Cream Foundation. In search for an affordable version I bought Ultimate Fix Compact Foundation. The lightest shade is ivory and I chose it because I am acidic and foundation oxidizes on me if its dark.

This will mostly be text, as this is a draft way back. This is ready for sharing, but not published. The pictures meant for this post was stolen along with my old mobile phone last year.

Ultimate Fix Compact Foundation in Ivory Review

What is it?
Cream foundation that is supposed to act as a 3-in 1 product. It's foundation, concealer and powder in one.
Lightweight solid to liquid formulation which provides the coverage of a liquid foundation with a powder finish. Creates the perfect base in one easy application. SPF15.
It contains oxybenzone
[An active chemical sunscreen ingredient]
Ultimate Fix Compact Foundation in Ivory
How to use it:
1. After selecting your shade, prepare skin by thoroughly cleansing and follow with a moisturizer to prep the skin
2. Using the sponge applicator sweep the product over your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin
3. Blend together with a clean foundation brush ensuring to blend lightly into the hairline and neck for a natural finish
4. Build coverage as desired

Ingredients:
Talc, Mica, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Hytdrogemated Polycyclopentadiene, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, CI77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77007, CI 77891

Packaging
Round plastic see through packaging wherein you can see the foundation inside. It also comes with a mirror and sponge. I actually broke my compact when it fell off once from my bag, it should be handled with care.

Experience
Experience british invasion by Collection!
This product from UK and it has been with me for a while. I apply this using the provided sponge. The finish is matte but dewy, its a little sticky so I need to set it with loose powder. It feels heavy given that its cream foundation so I didn't dare to use additional products underneath (no sunblock err~).

Ultimate Fix Compact is indeed a multi-purpose product. I must say the coverage is awesome, its concealer and foundation in one and with one layer my dark spots are gone. It borders medium to heavy coverage, it depends on how you apply it. It doesn't highlight my pores but it doesn't cover it either. After commute though it surely made me oily. Yes there is a very thin line between dewiness and oiliness.

Inside the office and despite picking the light shade it still oxidized on me! :(
My workmate literally asked if I burned my face because it is very obvious that my face looks darker than it should. Oh my~

[Oxidation is apparently common with mineral make-up and other types of foundation. Oxidization occurs when the minerals and fats in the foundation react with pigments in the skin causing the skin and foundation to look darker, yellow or orange as the day progresses. Credits]

How much and where to buy?
Its P250 for the 10 grams compact. I got mine from Landmark Trinoma.

What I love
  • Medium to heavy coverage which means no need for concealer
  • Doubles up as sunscreen
  • Dewy matter finish
  • Affordable
What I don't
  • Oxidized on me despite being in an air conditioned environment
  • Sticky
  • Made me oily
  • Feels heavy on the face
TIPS

Will I repurchase?
No, its long since I bought a compact from them and I wonder if they still sell them...

Overall~
As long as I love cream foundations I won't give up on them. Right now it was a let down that Ultimate Fix Compact Foundation didn't work on me, I really don't like foundations that oxidizes on me. I might just repurchase Covergirl instead.

Review: San San Soleil Matte Foundation

Hi sweeties! Again it has been a tough stressful week for meh. I am looking forward to a brighter days ahead although literally there will be rain showers because of the typhoon. Anyway starting off with a summerific item although it is rainy! Here is my review on San San Soleil Matte Foundation:

What is it?
A matte liquid foundation with only one shade! This also features SPF 24 which is good because we all need sun protection especially on our face.

Packaging
Handy yellow tube type. It is very summer like. Yellow symbolizes the sun of course! :) The pump is a fail because the one I've got is not working and no product is dispensed out. I had to open the cap every time I need to use it err.. frustrating.

Experience
First thing I noticed with San San Soleil Matte Foundation is the scent. It smells like Bear Brand milk. Next is the color. I am glad that it is yellow toned so it fits most Pinays. I use my fingers in application just like what I do with bb creams. The coverage is awesome. One application is enough to cover pesky spots. I feel instantly flawless after usage. However I hate how sticky it is. Its hard to spread the product. I always make sure I use moisturizer prior to applying. It is also messy, I really had to make an effort in washing my hands because the product won't come off easily.

Because of the thick consistency I stopped using it on my face after a week. I am afraid that it somehow block pores because I broke out a little. Also in comparison to other face foundations I've tried this does not melt pretty, no glow or whatsoever. Reapplication is a must or you will look like a greaseball. I tried using this on my legs (I am quite a fan of leg foundations) and i'ts a winner. The full coverage covers up dark spots in an instant. Thumbs up for being a multi-purpose product.

I never tried this on flash photography but it was okay on natural lighting.

How much and where to buy?
 HBC outlets nationwide.

What I love

  • The full coverage!
  • The milk scent. hoho~
  • Perfect as a leg foundation. Hihi~
What I don't

  • Not for the face because it might clog pores

TIPS:
Best applied using fingers. It will be hard to clean tools with this foundation.

Will I repurchase?
As leg foundation? Yes!

Overall~
I was not able to use it for the purpose I've bought it for but I am glad San San Soleil Matte Foundation found another way to stay inside my beauty drawer. <3

*might post pictures if I get my hands on my foundie again. I've left it with a friend of mine. I'm missing this tube for weeks now.

Review: Fashion 21 Two Way Cake

It was fine Sunday when we attended Mario Maurer's open fan meet in SM North Edsa. I was with my younger sister was my first time to reach the front of the stage, yess finally after coming to so much fan meetings haha. Baifern was super gorgeous and Mario as seen on tv is super good looking. Kyaa~ Crazy Little Thing Called Love is just plain awesome.

We dropped by my shopping haven after - SM department store to check out new stuffs when I remembered that I need a new powder foundation. Hooray~ I intend to buy 4u2 BB powder at first but comparing the two (Fashion 21 two way cake) which I both love to try I have decided to pick the latter. Well I am in a budget right now and I'll stretch my money as far as I can. Another reason for buying is the fact that Fashion 21 has more grams and cheaper than 4U2. Btw I opted to buy this in refill because I already have a unused Avon compact at home. It doesn't just saves money it also saves mother Earth, no more extra compacts to throw away. :)

Honestly this is my very first foundation. Well I do had Maybelline ones before but they seem to be offer very light coverage which make them seem more of being finishing powder rather than foundation. Do I make sense?

Fashion 21 Two Way Cake
Regular foundation that can be applied wet or dry.

Product Features
UV Protection
Oil Control
Mild on skin
Non-cakey
Long lasting
Smooth and easy application
Can be applied wet or dry

There is absolutely a lot of promises. Teehee~ I am so excited to try it on because I do not really use foundations. Need I say more? :)

The scent:
The first thing I noticed with Fashion 21 way cake is the scent. It has a really strong scent which reminds me of Chin Chun Su. I know how other people despise this particular scent.

Coverage:
Foundation offers medium to full coverage. Sadly the color is too pale and does not compliment my skin tone. I have it in shade number one! The palest shade of all yikes. Shade #1 is a tad light on me, it's creamy but can still highlight dry patches. Luckily the foundation sets and blends with my skin tone after a while. It can get cakey if used too much on the under eye area.

My experience:
I get white cast on flash photography but it still looks nice. Yay~ pretty photos. It offers smooth finish and can quickly brighten up complexion. It also lessens the appearance of pores but doesn't totally diminish it. I still use in2it to cover up pores or my good ole pore minimizer sticks and essence.

This foundation has convinced me to try plain powder make-up. I have been using bb creams as make-up base for years but because of this foundation's coverage I tried using the powder alone. Now I can skip bb creams and cut my make-up time in half! Definitely a life-saver when I am running late for school. I have been using bb creams for years now at least I have an alternative when I am in a hurry, just sunblock, moisturizer and this foundie and I am off to go.

Sun protection and oil control is just okay. I don't want to look matte all day anyway. It looks better after a while. Somehow it becomes rather dewy than oily when it wears off. Effect does resemble mineral make-up's effect on me, kinda glowy which I like. I have only tried using this dry, wet application might result to too much foundation. Besides, I am already comfortable using this as is because coverage suffice on covering red blemishes, things are different in terms of dark spots because I still need concealer for those.

Fashion 21 Two Way foundation offers average staying power but I don't mind. Somehow it is powdery but it is cheap soooo~ :) I picked the lightest shade because I am afraid of oxidizing foundations, oh-well this one doesn't oxidize on me maybe because of the shade? It doesn't break me out! Powder does settle on pores when it starts to wear off but I just wipe it off and I am good. My main concern and fear before on foundations is the fact that it might oxidize and might break out. This foundation is such a winner on both aspects! Mehehe~

How much? P130 per 11 gram refill

What I love:
  • It's affordable
  • Product is readily available in Watsons/ SM beauty counters
  • Coverage is awesome
  • Looks so pretty on photos!
  • Doesn't oxidize
  •  Melts to a pretty finish
  • Brightens up complexion
  • Lessens the appearance of pores
  • Didn't gave me break outs

What I don't:
  • I think I got the wrong shade haha. (not the product's fault)
  • Can give you a 'foundation day' look when freshly applied
  • May highlight dry patches
Will I buy again?
YEEEES!~ I am totally impressed with Fashion 21 Two Way Cake I might just need to repurchase a more accurate shade soon. Plus they offer other variants such as papaya, milk and tea tree. I would love to try those too. *excited*

Here are a few photos I want to share from last Hallyu Wave Festival event where I got nice comments on my look, yes I intend to look like a doll for at least a day. I have worn a dress I got from ebay and I made the flower hair pin myself! Yay~  Teehee I covered Park Minha of Nine Muses. :)

A friend who covers VIXX :)
Just me and the stairs haha.
We are Nine (Nine Muses) but this shot only features six of us trying to look like emotionless dolls
