How to Dye Brown Hair Blonde at Home Part 1

Going blonde is something I thought I would never do! But what they say is true, people change. Originally I would be contented with lifting my hair color by a shade or two with just using blonde hair colors. Without the bleach any blonde shade will only result into brown. I've been a brown head all my life since the 2013 (?) I know most of the gals here are scared to try something new and I know the feeling.

In the Philippines bright hair colors can be an issue. First we are bound by the rules of the school and then the rules of your work place after, its never ending rules really. Hair color says so much about yourself. When a girl's life changes or if there is something that really triggers our emotion, the hair can be our best bet to showcase those feelings. Its like shouting out to the world what you really feel and all. Hair color can boost our confidence and see everything in a different light. Hair is not just a crowning glory, its the best way to express ourselves. <3

Okay so for today it will not be an ordinary review product post, I'd be sharing how to dye brown hair blonde at home with you guys. Yes I was so scared that people at home and at work may not accept this color but alas, when will I do this? When I am 40 yrs old already? Sabi nga sa kanta (Just like what the song says) '...and live while we're young!'

First and foremost, this is what you need to make it possible:
  • Bleaching Powder
  • Oxidizing Lotion
  • Hair Color Cream
  • Hair Spa and/or Hair Conditioner (lots of them!)
  • Hair leave on, VCO, sunflower hair oils etc (choose one that can tame your tresses & buy it)
  • Patience (you'll need several process done)
  • Will to live (to endure the pain)
  • Friends (to help you in every step of the way!)

Do not believe sales staff especially if they didn't try bleaching their hair yet! Lol. So okay I don't generalize but most of them doesn't know what tips to give to their clients. The best teacher in life is experience. That is why I seek the help of my loving friends on this. Bleaching hair is their life (okay I was exaggerating right there).

I bought my stuff at Trinoma Landmark. They have vast selection of bleaching powder, oxidizing lotion & conditioner.

Rading Landmark Trinoma for the right products, buying more oxidizing lotion

First Try

At my friend's house: Chilling out before coloring my hair. Taray may moral support ang mga lola mo! (Trans: My friends offer moral support!)
She thinks the products bought were not enough, was she correct about this?
My hair before bleaching
My black roots are very visible and it hasn't been long since I've colored my hair with Palty, remember this post? My hair is very brassy with all of the coloring I've done and I will soon be welcoming more brass after bleaching.

Here we go with the process. My friend mixed the bleaching powder and oxidizing lotion. I used 9% volume instead of 12%. A quick hair history: I always color my hair with Hortaleza Blonde color dyes and then 'Red' but it was not allowed at my work before and I ended up coloring it black a day after. I had a hard time in changing it to brown so I bleached it. Before I didn't know how to dye brown hair blonde at home properly so the end result is patchy colors and I ended up with brittle dry hair.

I believe the lower part of my hair is still part of this hair history (lol). I can't say that my hair is better now, that is why I am trying to bleach it because I think there is nothing to lose already!

TIP: Chop off an inch or two from your hair ends to get rid of dry hair splits.
Sectioning & bleach application
Waiting

TADAAAH~ Processed bleached hair!
Was it a success? Okay so this was titled Part 1 for a reason. My good friend Hammie is right, 1 bleaching powder sachet and 2 small oxidizing lotion bottles are not enough. I should not have listened to the sales staff and just proceeded with buying what I think is enough for my thick hair.

I would need to continue how to dye brown hair blonde at home post next time. Yay. I actually moved to another friend's house, and he has a big bottle of oxidizing lotion and a big tub of bleaching powder!

For now here is an ending photo for this post, me and Joy while we were shopping for the hair products.

Shopping and sale everywhere, but there is very less of those korean & japanese shops wherein we can fancy stuff. Anyways wish granted! I have seen three new shops worth the visit:

Mumuso

I had a chance to visit Mumuso. They have makeups, beauty tools, slippers etc. They have a small branch in Cubao and they just launched this month.

Miniso

Miniso a lifestyle brand, offers japanese quality at an affordable price point! Its located at the second level of Robinsons Manila. It has the same feel as Uniqlo. I see that they have complete line, from makeup products to beauty tools. I really hope to drop by the soonest!

Mall of Korea

Operation Blonde with Lolane Pixxel Color Cream!

Lalalala ice cream cake! I am thrilled, excited and scared to change my hair color! YAY. So finally I will be giving operation blonde another shot.
I asked my sister to buy me Lolane Pixxel Color Cream in Very Light Ash Blonde P17 and tadah!

Lolane Very Light Ash Blonde, Monea Highlight hair bleach powder and ermm Blondie? oxidizing cream

I got the shade P17 in 3 boxes because I have bra length hair. The staff in Hortaleza said that 2 bleaching powder is enough? Hmm might reconsider that later. Yes guys and gals I will be using this babies later and I cannot really imagine how it will look on me. I am still on the fence if I should add another extra light ash blonde shade to the mix because the Lolane Very Light Ash Blonde is color gray on the box! It would be crazy to bleach and come up with black gray after. What do you think?

If you have any tips or inputs on going blonde, kindly comment below. I'd love to hear from you!~

Review: iWhite Whitening Vita Facial Cream

iWhite is a brand from Korea that has been around for years already. I always see it in drugstores which proves how well it was distributed in Manila. I remember using iWhite in my college days, one of iWhite representatives asked me to try their facial set. Yes gals they have their face care system before, in no particular order they have Pore Refining Coffee Sugar Polish (this one smells like strong coffee and you can never be sleepy if you put this on!), Heating Pumpkin Enzyme Mask (it heats up your face and smells a bit sweet), Rose Petal Wine Mask (I don't like it because although its cold to the skin when applied it really does smell like wine!) and Seaweed Gel (was not able to get this one). The iWhite products I've just mentioned are already off the shelves. I don't know what happened, maybe it was phased out or something.

Anyway for today I would be reviewing iWhite Whitening Vita Facial Cream which I've bought months back.

What is it?
Iwhite Korea says:
Iwhite Whitening Vita Facial Cream is an all around face cream with natural active ingredients that gives you three essential benefits for a complete day care protection.

1. Whitening  with mulberry extract to evenly whiten skin
2. Dual UV Protection - with Titanium Dioxide to protect ski from harmful UV rays that cause cellular damage and premature aging
3. Makeup Base - with PANAX Ginseng and Vitamins A, C and E to shield skin from free radical damage while leaving it silky smooth so makeup sets perfectly on your skin

Ingredients:
Mulberry Root Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract and Titanium Dioxide

Packaging
Its in a sturdy tube which dispenses the right amount of product and because the size is 'just right' I can say its travel friendly too.

Experience
iWhite Whitening Vita Facial Cream boasts Bio-Nanotechnology which is said to give the ingredients increased potency. Only a pea size amount is needed to cover up the face. When I started applying the product I remembered iWhite Whitening Facial Mask. I immediately double checked on the tube if I was indeed using the face cream and not the mask. Hahaha.

I also want to review iWhite Facial Cream Whitening Vita in terms of their promises:

+Whitening - What I noticed is that my face looks radiant and fairer with just one application! It did not settle on my pores and it feels light as well.

+Makeup Base - The cream is a bit sticky at first (imo) but spreads easily on bare skin without tugging. Upon applying I felt like its more watery than before. I wonder if they changed formula? The finish is also velvety matte before, but now its more of glowy type of finish which can be similar to cc creams effect.

I can use additional moisturizer underneath the cream with no problems. I wear iWhite everyday for more than a week already and I can attest that the cream won't feel hot or make your face perspire or oil more than usual. It's also non greasy.

+Protection: SPF 15 - I used it as a makeup base/sunblock (but it only offer SPF15). I also applied powder on top and it looks nice.

How much and where to buy?
P179 for 65ml tube

What I love
  • Moisturizing
  • Whitens skin! (Temporarily, because the cream is color white)
  • Doubles as sunblock
  • Makes face look bright when used as makeup base
  • Very nice scent (addicted to it!)
  • Doesn't clog pores/doesn't break me out
  • Easy on the pocket
  • Doesn't make me oily
  • Requires no touch up
  • Very accessible product
What I don't

  • Bit of white cast on camera flash

Will I repurchase?
YES!

Breakout is not from iWhite. Just in case you are wondering. Will blonde hair look good on me? *meep*

Overall~
I recommend iWhite Whitening Vita Facial Cream for gals who likes light multi-purpose cream for everyday makeup. Thank you and see you on my next post! :)

What's inside my Kikay Kit?

Alow~ Yes hello girls, I can't believe it's already Saturday tomorrow. It's finally my rest day! I am looking forward into learning a lot of stuff during my free time this weekend which includes *drum roll* baking!~ Its cold and it is the best time to bake. I would love to try cupcakes this time around.

And so, before tomorrow comes, I will let you take a quick peek at my makeup whatnots. <3

Yay, so I do have the same makeup routine everyday. Skipping the mascara and eye lash curling (I keep on losing eye lash huhu)

Here is what I have in my makeup kit, some which I have reviewed already. Pretty basic without my favorite Avon nude and brown eye shadow palette and Tonymoly backgel eyeliner which I don't lug around since I don't reapply them.

  1. Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream - I am yet to review this one. But this is a good bb cream. Like I always say I like multi-purpose products because I am always in a hurry during mornings!
  2. Silkywhite 2 way powder Foundation - velvety powder anyone? I also use this as my touch up powder.
  3. Tonymoly Tony Tint Delight - great for gradient lips
  4. Tonymoly Face Mix Concealer - it doesn't last whole day so need to reapply
  5. Nichido Cheek Mousse in Pink Champagne - nicely blushed on cheeks.
  6. Pinkies Collection in LP-01 - baby pink color similar to Sophie Martin's summer pink.
  7. Fashion21 lipstick in Apricot - neutral peachy color that looks very natural when applied lightly.
  8. Contact Lens Case - in case I need to change into my glasses
  9. Nail cutter -just felt like bringing it with me
  10. Hair clip! -for getting rid of my bangs if I have a bad bangs hair day. haha.
  11. Avon Clearskin Acne gel -for sudden breakouts. yikes.
  12. Vaseline Lip Therapy Balm in Cherry -keeps my lips moisturized!

Even though I still buy beauty items I make it to a point that I just buy what I need (for now). Most will be repurchase of products I really use. Let us congratulate ourselves for saving. The cold weather makes less room for melted makeup. Yahoo~ :)

I would be ending my post with Oh my girl's - Closer. They are very synchronized and the song has this very cool mysterious vibe to it.
